About the Course

This course provides you with a wide range of transferrable business knowledge and skills you will need to succeed in any industry of your choice.   Skills you will acquire include marketing, managing staff and operations, understanding accounts, conducting research and strategic planning to support business growth.

The course also helps you develop specialist knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship and small business management.  You will learn how national culture and economic factors influence entrepreneurship, and particularly the importance that small social enterprises have to the social economy.  You will evaluate the personality traits and individual characteristics that predict entrepreneurial success, giving you a theoretical and practical foundation for successfully starting and running a small business.

Year 1 – Students will study eight units at Level 4, with a value of 15 credits each = 120 credits.

Year 2 – Students will study a further seven units (six units at 15 credits each plus one unit at 30 credits) = 120 credits.

Entry Requirements

  • GCSE passes at grades ‘A to C’ including English Language, and either a minimum of one A Level at grades ‘A’ to ‘E’, or a BTEC Level 3 Certificate or Diploma, or an Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an approved further education institution; or
  • College-recognised certificated learning equivalent to the above, such as the International Baccalaureate . Where possible LCK Academy uses the NARIC database to determine equivalents to GCSE and A level qualifications; or
  • Normally, two or more years of work experience at a managerial/supervisory/admin level relevant to the programme applied for. This must be evidenced via a personal statement, work experience form and successful interview, and supported by employment reference(s) indicating the duration of employment and the role.
  • You may be eligible to join an HND programme if you have previous learning that satisfies the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the course you are interested in, normally with 90 credits (subject to syllabus studied previously). It is your responsibility to demonstrate this with objective evidence.
  • Prospective students who are not UK nationals, or who are UK nationals but do not have GCSE English Language at grades A to C, are required to take our English language assessment. If you hold IELTS grade 5.5, with both reading and writing at grade 5.5, you do not need to sit this assessment.
  • If you do not meet the required standard of English in the assessment, you will be offered an English language course to help you improve your English to the necessary level to gain admission to the Pearson HND in Business programme.

Student Funding is available for UK and EU nationals for this course, depending upon your visa status.  Students who are eligible to access Tuition Fee Loans via the Student Loans Company (SLC) should produce a proof of their loan approval, or at least a proof of their loan application at the time of enrolment. Students without any loan evidence may be enrolled on a course at the Academy’s discretion on a Pending Fees Status. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their student loan application is successful and completed. Should a student fail to secure a loan, the Academy will request payment by other means.
