About Us

Welcome!

Welcome to LCK Academy (LCKA). In the fast-changing world of local and global enterprise, education is increasingly important for individuals and communities to succeed. That is why London’s Community Kitchen (LCK), a charity tacking food poverty since 2014, decided to establish LCKA in 2022.

We realised that the LCK ethos of zero waste, zero hunger is not enough. People also need the ability to support themselves and their families. This means access to quality education and qualifications that raise their confidence, and give them knowledge and skills to build a career in today’s competitive environment. They need zero self-doubt, zero hardship.

Adults who are not ready for higher education, can contact our partner organisation, London’s Community Kitchen (LCK) for basic training in English, Maths and Digital Skills, as well as vocational Cookery courses. For those who are ready, we have formed a partnership with Strode College to offer Pearson BTEC Higher National Diplomas (HND) in Business and Hospitality Management.

The content of the HND courses has been developed in consultation with industry partners, in order to ensure that students learn the vital skills employers are looking for. HND in Business focuses on Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. It is designed for people looking to gain employment, promotion or start their own business in a wide range of sectors. The HND in Hospitality Management is ideal for people seeking management positions in a restaurant, hotel or any organisation within the Hospitality sector, including their own business.

We have an extremely passionate team of academic and support staff that are committed to making a difference to the lives of our students, their families and communities. We provide a flexible programme of study that is ideal for adults who are working and have children. This includes individual support for people wishing to enrol and apply for a student loan, and a blended learning programme that combines online and in-person classes at weekends or weekdays.

We hope that after finding out about our Academy ethos and what we are striving to achieve, you will be inspired to join our growing community of students, staff and volunteers.

Who We Are

Our Vision

Our vision is to become a leading provider of education and training, building confidence and removing barriers by harnessing entrepreneurial talent within the community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to serve the community with high-quality education, giving people knowledge, skills and confidence they need to develop a culture of entrepreneurship and help grow the local and national economy.

Our Ethos

Our Ethos of Zero Waste & Zero Hunger is the blueprint for our entire operation. We believe it to be an absolute human right to have access to affordable food and to support the most vulnerable communities across London.

London’s Community Kitchen (LCK) was established in West London in 2014, in order to provide local people in Barnet, Brent and Harrow with Cookery courses and ensure they have access to free food if needed.  The LCK ethos is zero waste, zero hunger.

In 2022, LCK formed LCK Academy (LCKA) in order to provide access to a quality education and qualification that raises people’s confidence and living standards.  The LCKA ethos is zero self-doubt, zero hardship.

We are creating a new Urban Farm on land that belongs to Harrow School.   This will allow us to provide programmes on sustainable food production and garden management to complement our free food services and academic programmes.  It will lead to new employment opportunities for local communities and promote environmental benefits that support the green agenda.
